Personally, I enjoyed the breakout of the pharmaceutical industry, but feel free to click on the picture below for the giant version and decide which is your favorite (h/t The Big Picture):

So if we spent half of our defense budget ($220b instead of $440b over the next 5 years...for a total of $1100b)... we could feed and educate every child on earth ($465b), move the entire world to renewable energy ($515b), pay half of Africa's debt ($100b), and still have room to save the Amazon ($21b)...
Ok, so we'd be $1b shy in saving the Amazon...but surely the other advances would gain enough dividends to a) raise that $1b or b) make the cost to save the Amazon less expensive.
All while still spending over 3.5 times what the Chinese spend on military.
Think John Cornyn will go for that? Actually, now that I think of it, maybe that $230b price tag for manned mission to mars isn't such a bad idea...as long as it's a one way mission, it might be worth sending a few folks that way (and, given the age and gender of the US Congress, that might save us some of that $4b in ED spending...which might complete the $1b lack in the Amazon fund).
If only it could be so...
My brother-in-law the populist ladies and gentlemen! In all seriousness though, great comment. Hopefully once we start drawing down in Iraq/Afghanistan we'll see some sort of reductions in defense spending, though the inevitable postering over who's the toughtest might (ok will) prevent this from happening.
Personally, this picture made me realize that I want a piece of the Russian bribing business. If any of you out there know someone with ties to the Russian mob, you know where to find me.
actually, Mike, my parents have a former neighbor down in the islands who might be able to help you out...
This is the prettiest chart I've ever seen in my life.
I want one to map out the rest of my life and chart disease progression in my family tree.
